ITS NAME TO THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE OF NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS INSTITUTIONS
2 years inclusive process involving all members in all regions the
ICC officially adopted today the new name Global Alliance of National
Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
making the announcement to the General Meeting the outgoing
Chairperson Adv. Mabedle Lawrence Mushwana said “this is not just
about a new name and logo. This is about strengthening our collective
voice for human rights.”
incoming Chairperson – and the very first Chairperson of GANHRI –
Beate Rudolf said “Launching GANHRI is about bringing across our
particular strength as a connected and collaborative alliance: The
strength of our knowledge of the human rights situation on the ground
and of the challenges to implement human rights domestically. And the
strength of our independent and measured advice on how to create
sustainable solutions to human rights problems” she continued.
