The 11th International Conference of National Human Rights Institutions took place from 5-7 November, 2012 in Amman, Jordan, under the Royal Patronage. The overall theme of the Conference was "The Human Rights of Women and Girls, Gender Equality: The Role of National Human Rights Institutions".
The Conference was hosted by the National Centre for Human Rights of Jordan (NCHR) under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, in cooperation with the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC) and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
Participants from national human rights institutions across all regions, representatives of international and regional organizations, non-governmental organizations as well as State representatives participated. A final outcome Declaration and Programme of Action was adopted.
The ICC Bureau Meeting immediately preceded the Conference on Sunday 4 November 2012 in Amman, Jordan.
As per established practices, an NGO Forum was held parallel to the Conference with a view to consolidating the knowledge and experiences of CSOs with that of NHRIs, hereby strengthening mutual cooperation. The NGO Forum took place from the 4-5th November 2012 in Amman, Jordan.
